Hello, my name is Shanell Wallentine and I have created these Family Home Evening lessons for the semester project for my Family 100 class entitled "The Family: A Proclamation to the World".  The lessons are based on the chapters from our textbook which is "Successful Marriages and Families--Proclamation Principles and Research Perspectives".

FHE has always been an essential and important part of my life, both as I was growing up and while raising our seven children.  It is my goal to make FHE fun and interesting so that my children enjoy getting together and learning about the gospel.  I've enjoyed being taught with object lessons throughout my life.  My dad was a seminary teacher and collected all kinds of object lessons from a dead cat to a life-size cut-out of Hulk Hogan. These lessons incorporate object lessons that can be helpful in grabbing the attention of family members as well as foster understanding of the principles being taught.  There are also adaptations to the lessons for children and youth so that the topics can more easily apply to them.

These lessons are loaded with quotes from prophets, general authorities, professionals, scientists, and scholars.  I have learned so much about The Proclamation and how its prophetic counsel can bless individuals, families, communities, and nations when followed.  I know that as we follow the teachings of the gospel and our living prophets that we can raise a righteous posterity who will be strong enough to stand up against the evils in the world.
